“My belief is that PowerPoint doesn’t kill meetings. People kill meetings.” Peter Norvig, Google, Inc.
There is a collection of Spanish Power Points I really like. They were created by Paul Widergren, a Spanish teacher, and they’re just great.
My favorite Power Points of Paul’s collection are the Magic Squares. When you arrive at Paul’s website, click on Vocabulario. Then, click on the third link, “Magic Squares and Word Boards.” Then, click on the first link, “What is a Magic Square?” which explains how to play.
The Magic Square Power Points aren’t actually for presentation. Rather, they are for photocopying for your students. I use the Magic Square Power Points all the time with my students. They cover a wide range of vocabulary topics, and, the students like to do them. They are an effective way of reviewing vocabulary, and numbers. When the students have completed the Magic Square activity assigned to them, I ask them to tell me the number written for a particular box, and the name of the item pictured, all in Spanish.
In addition to Magic Squares, Paul has created many other useful Power Points. Go and check them out!
