OK. So, Mother’s Day was ayer. But, I wanted to post something, in Spanish, in honor of the day, and found the poem below. Besides, I was spending El Día de las Madres with my madre, and did not get an opportunity to post.
Anyway, the poem is courtesy of Mama Lisa’s World Blog. It is a bilingual poem – in Spanish and in English. I am omitting the usual quote line for this post. Enjoy!
BTW: Here is another link, also on Mama Lisa’s World Blog, re: Mother’s Day in Mexico. It includes a song.
A mi Mamá
(Spanish)
Mamita querida
de mi corazón
yo te quiero mucho
con todo mi amor.
Por eso te traigo flores
por eso te canto yo
por eso te traigo flores
con gran emoción.
Mamita querida
aunque soy chiquito/a
mi amor es grande,
mas grande que el sol.
Por eso te traigo flores
por eso te canto yo
por eso te traigo flores
con gran emoción.
For My Mom
(English)
My mommy dearest,
From my heart
I love you so much,
With all my love.
That’s why,
I bring you flowers.
That’s why,
I sing for you.
That’s why,
I bring you flowers,
With all my heart.
My mommy dearest,
Although I’m little,
My love for you is so big,
Bigger than the sun.
That’s why,
I bring you flowers.
That’s why,
I sing for you.
That’s why,
I bring you flowers,
With all my heart.
