UdL and Foreign Language Teaching

“UDL is truly a strategy ‘for all seasons and reasons’”.  Don Johnston, Don Johnston, Inc.

A colleague on Twitter asked why more teachers aren’t familiar with UdL?  I don’t know that they aren’t familiar. Rather, it’s perhaps more a situation that they really do not fully understand the approach, or know of viable ways to learn more.

Via a Google search, I located this resource, which, in my opinion, is probably the best resource for UdL and foreign language teaching.  My search also led me to discover a new book entitled, World’s Apart? Disability and Foreign Language Learning.

Here is general background information on UdL, regarding its basic premise.

So, I hope that by providing the aforementioned links and resources, more foreign language teachers will not only become familiar with UdL, but will also broaden their understanding, and use the strategies in their teaching and assessment practices.
