I made several purchases recently for house and home, and for self.
First, the house and home purchases. After five years, I decided I needed a new doormat. Ok; the real reason is that it will be five years this month that I have resided in my wonderful apartment, and wanted to celebrate with something to mark the occasion. So, I purchased this lovely doormat. Tulips are my favorite flowers, so, the design suits. The doormat is constructed from coconut fiber. Some people don’t like it, because the mat does tend to shed a bit, but, I don’t mind that. I personally find the mat durable. The color does fade over time, but, I owned my previous coconut fiber mat for five years, and it held up well, even during the harsh New England winters.
Second, the purchases for self. I purchased this and this from Luv Naturals. It’s been ages since I have worn headbands, and so I am having fun with them. Also, it’s the first time that I have worn cloth headbands with an elasticized back. They are comfortable, and are made of quality fabric. I am currently transitioning, which means I m growing out my relaxer, and going back to my natural hair texture, and looking for ways to dress up my hair. Of course, one doesn’t need to be transitioning to wear nice headbands. LOL! I also purchased this and this. The comb is okay; I prefer my lifting comb, aka hair pick for detangling, but, I thought that since I am transitioning, an actual detangling comb would be the way to go. However, the proverbial jury is still out. I really like the hair stopper drain catcher, and am not sure why I had not purchased one prior.
Speaking of transitioning, I will discuss some of the products I have purchased recently in an upcoming post for my hair as I try to manage the two textures.
I can’t wait to hear more abt your transitioning journey thanks for reminding me abt luv naturals. I wish I had blogged more abt it
@ Miss Teacha Isn’t Luv Naturals a wonderful online treasure? Re: my transitioning journey: I probably won’t do a full-blown testimony, as there are plenty of those on the ‘Net. That said, each journey is unique. So, perhaps I will speak about it from time to time, such as in a monthly re-cap sort of format.
Wait a minute! This is too true, I’m chuckling to myself because;
1. I urgently need to buy a new doormat
2. Coconut fiber, that just sounds amazing to a coconut junkie like me
3. Those headbands are great. Have you tried Mizani products? They are a bit pricey but their transitioning range is awesome
4. Not relating to this post, but previously you blogged about adding a scent to mopping water, which I did whilst cleaning y’day and was a very useful tip. Thanks
@ Ms. Afropolitan It must be kismet. LOL! Re: the Mizani product line you recommended. I did check them out. Unfortunately, they contain petrolatum and mineral oil, two ingredients from which I am attempting to wean my hair, and it relies on heat to in order to blend the new growth into the relaxed hair, which I am also trying to avoid. I want my new growth to be as healthy as possible.
BTW: My Dear Mother would be flattered that you used her freshening technique.
Oh no don’t say Mizani contains petrolatum and MO.
I asked the salon mgr who said all natural products.
Keep that new growth healthy indeed!
I am afraid they do, Ms. Afropolitan.
