Ok. So…per recommendation, I tried Luster’s S-Curl Activator/Moisturizer. Yes, I know. I said I wasn’t going to allow myself to get sucked in by another product recommendation. I should have followed my own advice. S-Curl was a bust for my hair, from start to finish. Although it left my kinky-curly root hair soft and moisturized, it left my relaxed strands mushy. In fact, they looked and felt wet. Needless to say, the beautiful twist out curls I created the night before lasted for barely a minute once I stepped out into rainy and balmy humidity. I mean, my hair was a hot mess. The weather last week was not at all conducive to those of us with relaxed hair. S-Curl is also a glycerin-based product, and my relaxed hair doesn’t seem to respond well to this ingredient in large quantities. Of course, I could have used too much S-Curl, learning after the fact that one need not use too much. Regardless of the reason why it didn’t work for my hair, I won’t be using this product – at least not while I am transitioning.
Yet another product which looks as it if it will make its home in the bathroom cabinet under the sink. I think that Luster’s S-Curl is best used by those for whom it was intended: Naturals like my Dear Brother. Perhaps he might want to try it? If he is able to use it, it won’t have been money wasted.
On a potentially more positive note: I purchased two other products recently, after conducting research regarding their effectiveness, and user experiences. However, I am not ready to post about them at the present time. Once I have given them each a sufficient trial run, I will post.
