Hi, Rebecca.

Thank you for visiting, reading and commenting on my blog! I sincerely appreciate all three. I'm learning, albeit slowly, as I am blessed to add another year to my age chronology, that some things simply matter more than others. After family, friends, and faith, there's nothing which matters to me more than my job. However, things that occur at/ with the job aren't being assigned top-flight priority as they once were.

I notice you reside in CT; nice to meet a kindred spirit in the same state. :)

I just found your blog through a comment you had left on another and what timing! I myself have just recovered from a cold turned to sinus infection and bronchitis and face the piles of paperwork and disarray on Monday. You are so right, life goes on without you. The students don't suffer and in fact it is probably a good experience for them in some way. After reading your post, I've calmed myself down and am thinking about ways I can ease back into Monday. I think the best I can do is focus on the relationships with my kids, relax and have some fun.
thanks! Take care of yourself.

Hi, Alice.

Thank you for reading and for posting. Both are very much appreciated. :)

I think that we do need to be careful about not letting the textbook be the curriculum. That said, I do agree with your point re: the textbook exercises, to which I will add that the parents at my place of employ have spent a lot of money on the textbooks. So, I do need to do due diligence, and use them, albeit wisely, as you so aptly state.

Yes, you are right, it is not worth re-inventing the wheel and I do think textbooks are not as bad as long as you use them wisely. You can always find good exercises and activities in them because some people have spent hours working on them! I look forward to reading your weekly wrap-ups!

I like how you threw in some concrete plans in the end. I always do that too! But hobbies and exercise are part of focusing on the self, right?

Happy new year teachermrw! Wishing you a splendid 2012!
