Anti-Racism

I care about many different issues, among them, anti-racist education.  As one who is a direct beneficiary of the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act, the current state of the world really overwhelms and depresses me sometimes. I am one person, and as one person, I can do only so much. Having resigned myself to the fact that I cannot save the whole world, I try to make my little corner of it a bit brighter. Teaching students, I try to effect change with and through them.  I feel far more hope working with students than I do working with adults; I often feel like snatching them bald-headed around issues of race.  Although I try to work with my colleagues, I have come to the realization that I have to leave some of them where they are, and this is why.

One of my favorite resources for working with middle and high school students is Teaching Tolerance.  I encourage you to check it out.
